Kelly Brianne Clarkson was brought into this world on
April 24, 1982, by her mother Jeanne and father Steve Clarkson. Her parents separated and divorced when Kelly
was 6. Her mom later went on to marrying Jimmy Taylor. In junior high, Kelly was heard singing in the hallway by the choir
director, Cynthia Glenn. Mrs. Glenn encouraged Kelly to sing in the choir that coming year, and Kelly did so. By high
school, Kelly kept singing and performed in small musicals, and productions. She was a part of "Seven brides for seven
brothers" and was the leading role in "Brigadoon". Graduating in 2000, Kelly had no desire to go to college. She wanted
to persue a career in music. Keeping numerous jobs to pay bills, Kelly made a demo tape and sent it to many places without
hearing a word back. Getting frustrated Kelly packed her bags and moved to L.A. with a friend in hopes to find her big
break. After experiencing the big city life, her car getting towed twice and her apartment burning down, Kelly decided to
come back home and figure out what she is going to do with her life. Her best friend, Jessica, heard about an American
Idol audition in Dallas and filled out all the paper work for her. After auditioning in Dallas, she made it and was
soon going back to Hollywood. She later found out she made it into the Top 30 and was going to be on national television.
After singing 'Respect'-Kelly made it into the Top 10. Week after week, the television show grew and thousands of people
tuned in to watch their favorites perform. It was down to the last two contestants, Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini.
After a special two-hour show and thousands of votes later, Kelly became crowned the First American Idol September
4, 2002 and receiving a million dollar contract.Just a month later, October 5th, Kelly's single 'A Moment Like This'
went from No. 52 to No. 1 on the Billboard Charts setting a new record once by the Beatles in 1964.
